Have you set up your pension scheme?

700,000 small employers will be reaching their Staging Date for pension auto enrolment in 2017. That is 200,000 more than the number who had to set up their pension scheme in 2016. Setting up an auto enrolment pension scheme is proving challenging for businesses. There are so many options to consider and if you are doing it for the first,and probably only, time it is more than a little daunting.

When is a reasonable excuse not a reasonable excuse?

The Pensions Regulator has released the latest quarterly bulletin covering compliance and non-compliance with auto enrolment. An increasing number of small and micro employers are reaching their Staging Date and many are leaving it very late to set up a workplace pension. 
 
 During the period July to September 2016 The Pensions Regulator issued £3,728 Fixed Penalty Notices to employers failing to meet their automatic auto enrolment duties. A number of employers contested their fines

Don't bury your head in the sand!

Anybody who attended the Swindon Expo at the Steam Museum in June may have come across our stand with our new banner asking "Are you burying your head in the sand about Auto Enrolment?". Visitors were keen to play our "bury your head in the sand" game with the winner being offered a choice of prizes which included having their auto enrollment scheme set up for them.
 Most employers will know by now that setting up a pension scheme for your employees is a necessity.
